Paradise

I finally finished a layout!  This layout is from a challenge site Stuck On U Sketches.  You can go to the site by clicking here.http://stuckonusketches.blogspot.com

This photos is of two of my boys and my niece on their graduation trip to Hawaii many years ago.  I love this photo of them and their handmade leis.

I tried to pretty up the background white cardstock with some glimmer mist and inkpads.  It looks better than plain, but I still don't love it.  I mostly used my Cricut Artbooking cartridge which is only available through CTMH.  I love this cartridge.

The three different borders are from a swap I did a long time ago.

Apricot Fiesta 2014 Entries

Here are some photos of the 3D She Art Mixed Media piece that I finished:

The front and back of the "book" I just did some random painting, masking, misting, stamping, decopauging, etc.  So fun!!

For the insides, I did similiar mixed media techniques and then some.  Added some fiber (string), washi tape, more and more layering, rolled flowers, and of course, my pieced "she".  I love how it turned out and I love how unlimited mixed media art is.  It's messy and random and everything cool about being an artist!

I added a feather, stick pin, metal piece, rolled flowers and other layers to the bottom right hand corner.  Carly thought the upper left corner on the opposite side then looked unbalanced.  That's when I added the random yellow thread and some yellow paint drippings.  FUN!

She Art

I've been wanting to create a "She Art" mixed media piece for awhile but just didn't know exactly what I wanted to do.  I saved this cardboard box that my iPad keyboard came in and decided to Upcycle it into a mixed media piece.

Of course I didn't take a photo before I started...dang it!  I always remember after I start, but here's some that are pretty early in the upcycle stage:

New Challenge Site; New Friends

I met so many new people at the Mother's Day retreat and a new blog to follow.  I love sketches and challenges are awesome too!  Can you believe I've been the traveling fool that I haven't had a chance to spend time in the Command Center.  One thing that totally sucks is on my trip to Colorado, my SD card in my camera decided to fart out on the very last day of the trip and I lost ALL my pictures.  Good thing I have my sisters, nephew and friends photos to download but there were plenty of spots that we only used my camera for.  I felt sick to my stomach at first but then quickly got over it.  I'll survive.  I will survive, hey, hey...

Ok, today is Thursday and tomorrow I promise I will at least start a layout!   Promise.

The newest challenge is bum, bum buuuu...

I'll post a link when I actually finish the layout.  I'm a brat, I know it hee hee

Chalkboard Art

So...you know how I love taking what I have and re-doing...upcycling, right?  Well, I had this picture for about 20 years:

It's about 30 x 36 inches.  (I didn't measure, but it's pretty big.)

Here's my upcycle project:

As you can tell from the glare on the first picture.  This should have been framed under glass, but while I was placing the new "art" into the glass frame, it broke.  I guess it's a good thing if i ever want to erase and write something else on the chalkboard, but I think I would have liked it better with the glass.

I planned on painting chalkboard paint on the back of the original print but it was attached to the mat and I really wanted the mat for this upcycle project.  So...I figured, I wouldn't want to hang the old picture anyhow and just painted over it.

Chalkboard paint is so EASY to make yourself.  I only needed a little bit so I halved my original recipe.

Hope you like it!

Making Cards on NSD!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  I packed all my photos for the upcoming weekend crop so I decided to work on making cards.  Here are some cards I've done:
CTMH Products & Sketch

CTMH Products & Sketch

Mickey & Friends Cricut Cartridge

Stamps & Washi Tape - CAS

SU! Flower and Assorted Scrap Papers

Masking Stamps & Washi Tape - CAS

Refilling the Card Rack!

I love trying different techniques with paper, stamps, etc.  Sometimes I'll only do one card and other times I'll make multiple copies.
