WOYWW #403 and Re-Organization Update

Happy Hump Day everyone!  The closet re-do turned into the Command Center re-do and I'm loving every minute of it!  At first it was very overwhelming since I had pulled out stuff from all over.  Oh my, there is an endless supply of craft items - but I went through one pile/box/container/drawer at a time and sorted!
I followed the rules of keep/toss/donate and it helped a lot!
Here are some photos:

There is still a lot to do obviously but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I have other shelves that I purchased a long time ago that I actually forgot about so I'm going to take down this super large (waste of valuable space) bulletin board and put those shelves up!  This will help keep things off my work area (I hope).

Thanks for visiting from the Stamping-Ground blog linkup.  Today is What's On Your Work desk Wednesday (WOYWW) and our chance to take a peek into each others craft rooms & check out our projects.  Check out the Stamping-Ground post to read more about it.
Oh and hey, I'm instagramming now (is that a word?)!  My daughter added it to my phone and showed me how to use it.  You can follow me at 3sons_and_astar

Surprise 60th Birthday! (First FCCB Submission)

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog Challenge #295  Sequins:
We celebrated my sister-in-law's 60th birthday with a surprise party!  Even though the weather was horrible, we still had a good turn out and had lots of fun!  I made this cute flip album to fill with pictures and stories of the party.
The album is made with the following:
  • One 12 x 6 piece of Kraft cardstock (scored at 2.5" & 3" on each end of the long side)
  • Three 12 x 5.75 pieces of Blue cardstock (scored at 3" on each end of the long sides)
  • Two 5.5x5.5 pieces of Pink cardstock
  • Attach the three Blue pieces on the 3" tabs to form one long piece
  • Put adhesive on the back of this long piece on the middle (6 x 5.75) and adhere to the center of the 12x6 Kraft base.
  • Adhere the two Pink 5.5 x 5.5 squares to each 3" end of the long piece to form the covers.  Center those as well.

Now decorate!

I used the Art Booking Cricut cartridge for all the sentiments & birthday die cuts.  I went with black/white so they can stand out from the colorful patterned papers.  I also added sequins to the pages and cover to boost it up a notch!

This is my first submission to the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog where I am now officially on the Design Team.  I love using my Cricut and was so excited to be selected on the DT.  Be sure to click on over to the challenge site for inspiration and to join the link!  The more the merrier!

Since I had all the coordinating cardstock and patterned papers out, I made a second album.  This one is to celebrate Mother's Day.  I used the Suburbia Cricut Cartridge on this one.  I LOVE these vintage ladies!  The stamp set is from CTMH from a few years back.  Check it out!

At the end of all this, I realize that this is my 500th post!!

Closet Organization Update

OMG!  I took everything out of the closet and put them in boxes or containers that are now in my hallway and bedroom.  There is so much stuff in there!  Stuff that is so old I know I'm not going to use.  I started sorting some stuff out but will definitely need to go through once more before putting things back in the Command Center.

This is not going to be an easy project!  But it's coming along.  DS1 is installing the shelves this weekend.  I only bought a few because I wasn't sure what I wanted so once these initial shelves are put in, I'll go back and purchase add ons.

Woo Hoo!

WOYWW #402

Happy Wednesday!  Head on over to Stamping Ground to visit other deskers & read more about our Wednesday ritual.
My daughter, Carly and I have decided to re-do the Command Center.  Well, actually, we are going to re-fit the closet in the Command Center.  DH and I went to Lowe's and purchased a closet shelving kit and DS1 is going to help me install the shelves.  I'm so excited except for the part that we have to empty out the closet first.

I know you've seen photos of the Command Center before, but here are some before pictures for historical reference.  HA HA HA

And now the room itself:

The hope is that by organizing the closet space, we can find room to store items that are now being stored on top of our workspaces and/or the floor.  Basically prevent a fire hazard!

We're debating on keeping the one door attached.  This door is the one that holds our homemade chalkboard.  We're leaning towards YES, KEEP IT, but I think it'll depend on how deep the shelves are, etc.
STAYED TUNED...

Arrow in My Heart; Happy Valentine's Day!

Gotta love February and the month of love!
I spent time in the Command Center to make a Valentine's card for the hubby.  Pulled out my pink and red papers and was STUCK!  Where to start?  I was not inspired.  So I put those traditional pink & red papers away and went through my gelli prints stack.  I found this and knew I wanted to use it.

Here's the finished product.  A Valentine's Day card for my Valentine.

Close Up:

Definitely Non Traditional but so ME!

The only thing I added to the gelli print background was some silver "bubble wrap" marks using the Elements 2 stamp set by Bloom Art Stamps (Designed by ME!) and then stamped the sentiment and embossed the heart/arrow.  This set is from CTMH.

I'm entering this in the Creative With Stamps challenge site.  The challenge this month is Valentine.  Click on over to check out the DT cards and other linkers.  I'm participating in these challenges until April when I will officially be part of their Design Team!
If you are a card maker, be sure to visit this site often for prompts and inspiration.

Bee Mine

I love the Create-a-Critter I and II cartridges.  Can those images be any cuter?  I knew I wanted to make something for Valentine's Day so I pulled out some cardstock and just started cutting.  All these images were made by the C-A-C II cartridge.

I am hanging this cute banner in my cubicle at work.

Two Cricut challenge sites have Valentine's for their challenge so I thought I'd add this project to both of them.  Click on over to the Bitten By The Bug2 (BBTB2) and the FANTABULOUS CRICUT challenge site for weekly Cricut challenges.  Pull out your machine and get chirpin'!  Look for my DT projects on the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog FCCB in the future.  My first one will be on February 20th.

WOYWW #401

I can't believe I wasn't able to take part of the #400 postings of WOYWW but I guess being on a cruise ship is slightly better.  LOL. Happy WOYWW to you!  Click on over to the STAMPING GROUND to read more about it.  In the meantime, I haven't been doing much since we returned last Friday, but I managed to purchase a Mexico cruise scrapbooking kit while on the ship.  It was only $14.95 for tons of stuff so I snagged it.  I can't wait to print all my photos and get to work on the album.

A couple of photos of us at Catalina Island.  The weather was perfect and it was so beautiful.  See the cruise ship in the background?!?
